The Danish Critical Review published between the years 1926-1928, attempted to be the expressive outlet of left-wing thought as expressed in architecture and design. Being heavily text-based, the magazine related architecture to socio-political, cultural change, and even topics of sexual liberation.  Headed by the disruptive architect and critic Poul Henningsen (1894-1967), the magazine emphasized the relationship between architecture and societal problems, engaging into polemic criticism against cultural conservatism and opening the way for Scandinavian avant-garde functionalism.
