Introduced firstly in 1957 under the editorship of Bruno Alfieri, and the auspices the Belgian ADAC and Italian Olivetti Company, Zodiac set high ambitions for  the extemporization of an architectural discourse as a “supernational contribution” (Zodiac, 1957). Published twice per year in Italian, French, German, and English with an international editorial commitee the magazine focused on an equal pairing of strong theoretical pieces, with architectural reporting and lasted up to 1973.

The second iteration of the magazine followed in 1988 till 1999 with an additional run of 21 volumes.

The scans of the magazine issues were sourced at archive.org were they were being published openly (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) by Edizioni di Comunità, in two batches of thousands pages each. They were collected, split and orderd into individual issues, corrected for paggination, and reuploaded as flipbooks at the Architectural Periodicals Database server.

Since the original scans were significantly downsampled, certain visuals appear blurry, while text, drawings and sketches maintain a satisfying resolution. If you hold copies of the magazine that we can use to re-scan, please let us know: info@architecturalperiodicals.com
