Wendingen was directed by the legendary publisher Hendricus Theodorus Wijdeveld carried Dutch and European architecture, from its Art Nouveau and Proto-modernist roots to the celebrated modernist dynamism of the 1930s. Throughout its history, the magazine maintained a format resembling an architectural portfolio as well as a somewhat  strict targeting of architects through its advertising. On the other hand, it didn’t hesitate to diversify its content, with multiple issues being devoted to specialized matters of wider artistic creation (such as vase design 1931/10, or photographs of crystal formations 1924/10). Nevertheless, its most important issues are undeniably the feature monographs on specific projects such as Brinkman & van der Vlugt’s van Nelle factory (1930/12) or Duiker’s Hilversum (1925/01);  or features on  a speciffic’s architect’s work like Eileen Gray (1924/09) or Frank Lloyd Wright (1922/11).
